We Just Pray is Celebrating Minister Steven Abrams
We Just Pray is pleased to announce that at this year’s
Prayer Retreat & Conclave 2025, Minister Steven Abrams
will be recognized with the
Centurion Award for Exemplary Ministry Leadership & Impact.
The Centurion Award honors leaders who, like the Roman centurion commended by Jesus (Matthew 8:5–13), demonstrate extraordinary faith, humility, and authority rooted in Christ. Recipients embody exemplary ministry leadership—modeling excellence, guiding others with integrity, and creating lasting Kingdom impact through both spiritual and practical service.
Minister Steven Abrams is a Boston native whose early encounter with God set him on a lifelong path of service and discipleship. At age 22, during a solo cross-country drive, he vowed to follow the Lord’s call—a commitment he has pursued for more than thirty-eight years. For the past 19 years, he has served at New Life Christian Church Ministries in Brockton, MA, under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Orlando Harris, where he is an associate minister.
Beyond the pulpit, Minister Steven is widely recognized for strengthening support systems for veterans and their families. He has chaired the NAACP Brockton Branch Veterans Committee and previously served the City of Brockton as a Veterans Outreach Coordinator, amplifying access to resources and advocacy. His leadership helped establish Lesley University’s first Veterans Resource Center, advancing inclusive, accessible services. Through initiatives such as Vet2Vet Boston, he has expanded peer support and promoted equitable pathways to care, building bridges between veteran and civilian communities.
Colleagues commend Minister Steven’s ability to collaborate across veteran-centric groups and his grasp of the intersections of race, ethnicity, spirituality, gender, and culture—qualities that make his advocacy both compassionate and effective. Professionally, he is a Certified Peer Support specialist and a staff member with the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research (C.H.O.I.R.). He also holds a B.S. in Art Therapy at Lesley University and maintains a robust national network of like-minded leaders committed to healing, restoration, and community service.
“Onward to Glory.”
Minister Abrams’ life of service reflects his unwavering commitment to God, family, community, and country, making him a fitting recipient of this year’s Centurion Award.
