Be Intentional
Be Intentional: Spiritual Resilience, Guidance, and Next Steps
This morning with We Just Pray was an amazing time together with God. Thank you to Elder Famaya Hasberry for teaching on “Be Intentional.” In light of the times we’re living in—and the emotions many are carrying—here are the key takeaways to help us walk intentionally in the week ahead.
Spiritual Resilience and Purpose
Elder Famaya opened in prayer, asking Him to comfort heavy hearts and those experiencing grief. She shared transparently about recent job losses at her university and the emotional toll they’ve taken, modeling what it means to bring real-life burdens before God. Even in challenging seasons, she urged us to pursue an intentional life led by the Holy Spirit and to stay focused on purpose despite external pressures.
Intentionality isn’t denial—it’s choosing purpose with the Holy Spirit’s help, right in the middle of what we feel.
Intentional Living & Spiritual Guidance
- Intentional living begins with God.
- Seek Him first through His Word and prayer.
- Trust Him with responsibilities at home, church, and work.
- Use God’s Word for comfort and wisdom—don’t outsource your spiritual growth to others.
She also reminded us to walk it out:
- Live according to God’s calling; keep your joy and continue doing good, especially within your family.
- Acknowledge real feelings without letting them rule.
- Maintain a strong prayer life, rooting your steps in Scriptures from Hebrews, John, and Psal
Church Leadership: A Testimony of Trust
Sharing her own story of being called into church leadership, Elder Famaya described early nerves that were steadied by wise counsel in her local church. Her testimony called us to live lives of witness and intercession for our families, communities, and those under our spiritual care.
He entrusts specific assignments to willing hearts: “My sheep know My voice.” (John 10:27)
Knowing God’s Names and Attributes
Be intentional about calling on the name of Jesus Christ and learning God’s character through His names and attributes. Make time to read and study the Bible—resources on the names of God can deepen your understanding of who He is. Seek Him directly, not only through others’ interpretations (see Paul’s example in 1 Timothy), trusting that He will guide you into truth.
Bible Study & Faith Insights
From Bible Study, Elder Famaya highlighted Matthew 11:25, where Jesus praises God for revealing truth to humble “little children” rather than the “wise and learned.” The call is to remain humble and surrendered to God’s will—even amid widespread challenges like the recent layoffs affecting 125 people. As watchmen for our families, communities, and ministries, we are to stand firm and keep sharing the gospel.
